Description

Terra is shiftless --- a werewolf uncomfortable in her own animal skin.

A decade after learning to squash her wolf and flee the repressive village where she grew up, the packless ache still gnaws at Terra's insides. But despite her yearnings, she struggles against being reeled back into her old life.

To Terra's dismay, her father and half a dozen of his henchmen finally ambush her and demand her return. Yet they do offer one way out --- hunt down her nephew Keith, teach him to shift, and bring the youngster back into the fold in her place.

Problem upon problem piles up as Terra strives to do her father's bidding. The female shifter has hidden from her wolf for so long that she finds herself unable to change back into canine form, and she also realizes that her nephew is too good-natured to survive for a minute walking in his grandfather's footsteps. Plus, there's an alpha standing in her way who's equal parts enticing and terrifying.

Will Terra be able to relearn her werewolf abilities --- and overcome her morals --- before her father steals away her hard-earned independence? And as that tantalizing alpha reels her in closer and closer, the question becomes --- does she really want to stay away?

Don't miss the first book in a series that has been described as a "good choice for Patricia Briggs fans."

Shiftless by Aimee Easterling This book is very well written. Terra is a young werewolf that feels stifled at home, a typical teenage emotion. She wants to control her own life so she runs away from home. Skip to five years in the future. Being without a pack isn't what she thought it would be. She is a strong, independent, alpha female; but she's alone and lonely. Wolf Young is alpha of a mixture of bloodling, halfling, and pure blood wolves. Surprisingly, they work well as a unit. Terra could fit here. However, her father finds her and gives her an ultimatum. Terra has to search her heart and find who she is and what she is capable of. She must also convince her wolf, whom she has had locked away for so long, to return to her. I look forward to reading the rest of this series. Teresa Mac

This was a really good book to read. I love the complexity to the identity of the individual characters. I can't wait to see what the next book holds in store for Terra and Wolfe.

I believe this book is YA but I have to say it really seems more than that! Once again this writer does an amazing job forming these wonderful characters quickly! It is not hard to feel the emotions of the main character as she struggles with who she is when out on her own. Everything about this book is well thought out and the storyline flows seamlessly. It moves along quickly which I enjoy even though others may not! A great book. That everyone should give a read!

Terra and Wolfie's desire to not be iron fisted alpha's makes Aimee's werewolves stand out from the usual pack. There struggles to embrace the wild wolf and their humanity both fully make for a story that is definitely relatable, heartwarming, and entertaining.

I really enjoyed this story about Terra, a lone wolf and Wolfie, the alpha of an outcast pack of wolves. This book was a great concept in having a lone female wolf that is strong and independent. Terra ran away from her pack at 17 and hasn’t looked back since. When her father does find her he issues her an ultimatum for returning to the pack. Terra has a chance encounter with Wolfie in a bookstore and again when she goes to meet the nephew she didn’t know about. Wolfie shows her that there is more than just bad alphas. Terra learns more about her wolf, Wolfie and true pack life in a short time. It’s a sweet story, I loved Wolfie and his backwards nature as much as I loved how strong Terra was.
