I read this book when I was in 4th grade. I was having trouble making friends in a new community my parents moved us to, and my very successful and gregarious grandfather died, without his getting to know me (I was aloof, intelligent but socially inept). Anyway, it was way before ASPY diagnosis (1958) but through this book, I eventually became a successful and well liked High school student: BMOC student council VP, letterman club, captain of Swimming team, and eventually went to college. (as I recall, I actually wrote notes and memorized the highlights) There are ‘secrets’ to socially ‘work' the system, and this book allows smart and sensitive individuals (even children) to understand social rules and expectations that normally will confuse and frustrate any sensitive soul. (I have no preference for the form of the information, mine was a dogeared pocket book.)
