  • Great introduction to M/M

    By Sashaerr
Review of Free Agent by Robin Covington I've read a good amount of hockey romance. I've also read a good amount of M/M romance as well. This story combines the best of both worlds with a short and sweet story about Pro hockey player Jamie who has recently come out as gay, and his love interest Etienne. The out and proud trainer for the team he plays for. When the two unknowingly end up going out of town to the same destination they decided to see if a long standing mutual attraction gives way to something more. This novella chronicles the events of one weekend so it's pretty fast paced. I really enjoyed this story, and think anyone who has never read M/M romance but has wanted to would be in for a treat. The chemistry was there, the writing was fantastic and it has interesting secondary characters as well. The story is part of an anthology, and while I haven't read the others yet I'm really looking forward to it, as it follows an entire team. 4 stars for this story, it was great.
  • Blade

    By BobbieS.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of Blade. I love this story. It is a second chance love story. Flynn and Gillie are great together. Gillie finds out someone is after Flynn so she comes back to help him. She owes him for the alibi he gave to keep her out of jail. They lost each other once. They have to fight to be together. They have a love that can overcome anything.
  • Hot Hockey Players

    By Eileen A-W
I totally loved the three stories I’ve read, so far, in the Hot on Ice anthology collection. The New Orleans Rage has won the Stanley Cup and each story follows one of the members from this team and their day with Cup. Free Agent Times by Robin Covington is Jamie “DC” Washington’s day with the Stanley Cup. Jamie came out of the closet earlier in the season. Now he is a free agent, trying to get picked up by the Washington DC team so he can go home. When he’s in DC, Jamie spends time with the LBGTQ kids, which is where he goes with the Stanley Cup. Etienne, the Rage’s Physical Therapist, travels to DC to visit a friend on the same plane as Jamie. The attraction and chemistry between these two men is amazing. The heat just sizzles when they are near one another. Ms. Covington wrote an amazing story exploring the gay world in DC. Since Jamie is moving back to Washington DC can he and Etienne manage a long distance relationship? Blade by Avery Flynn is Flynn Kazakov’s story and his a day with the Stanley Cup. Flynn plans to celebrate with his hometown of Snow Bay, Michigan. Gillie Pike loved Flynn when he lived in Dallas but ruined any future they had when he gave her an alibi to save her from being arrested. Gillian was a burglar, stealing for an organization, earning money to pay for college. After three years of being clean she’s approached to steal the Cup while in Flynn’s possession and hiding it in his home. She agrees but only so she can warn Flynn as payback for saving her. Arriving in Flynn’s hometown, he is more than a little wary of Gillie and her story. However, the attraction and chemistry between these two is amazing. The heat just sizzles when they are near one another. Ms. Flynn wrote an amazing story allowing these two to have a second chance and introduce the readers to her B-Squad series. Deep Check by Kimberly Kincaid is Finn Donnelly’s story and his day with the Stanley Cup. Finn plans to take the cup to the grave of his best friend from high school, Asher, back in his hometown of Remington, North Carolina. He wants to keep it low key, away from the media. January Sinclair was best friends with Finn and Asher in high school, all the while having a crush on Finn. Finn left town shortly after graduation to play in the hockey minor league, leaving behind his two friends. January now works at Station Seventeen, keeping the place organized and running smoothly. Yet, when these two meet up again, the attraction and chemistry between these two is still there. The heat just sizzles when they are near one another. Ms. Kincaid wrote an amazing story allowing these two to have a second chance and introduce readers to her Station Seventeen series. These were wonderful, sexy, and entertaining stories with very likeable and authentic characters. The characters were well written with complex characteristics. The sex scenes were amazing. The story line was riveting and kept my attention to the very end. I enjoyed reading each of these stories and had trouble stopping. I highly recommend this book to other readers.
  • Flynn and Covington contribute great novellas

    By Clarasue2
Two books included in this review: Blade: B Squad Book 2.5 - Avery Flynn Second Chance romance and a little action on the side. Great addition to the B Squad books by Avery Flynn. We get to meet Flynn Kazakov, the goalie with the Cajun Rage Hockey team. His day with the cup was full of adventure as he had to team up with a former lover to keep the cup from getting stolen. Gillie Pike, said lover, and sister of Marko (we met him in earlier B Squad books) has a past that sneaks up on her and sends her straight back to Flynn, the man who broke her heart before. Enjoyable, quick and a little suspense. Some famous Flynn (the writer not he character, although...) snark and a little sexy sexy, make this B-Squad book a great Saturday morning read. Free Agent - Robin Covington Hot as hell hockey player, DC's day with the cup has him returning to his hometown of Washington DC where he will spend time with kids in an LGBTQ program. Imagine his surprise when the team's physical therapist is headed the same direction to hang with some friends. The two have been playing a cat and mouse game ever since Jamie (DC) came out and Etienne became single. Their time in the nations capital brings them together, but Jamie's possible trade, may keep them apart. This is Covington's second(?? I think) M/M romance and she writes the genre well. I enjoy the banter and fun that these two have (especially during Madame Tussaud's Wax museum) and I want Etienne as my bestie. I'd totally go tourist with him! OH and did I forget to mention the sexual tension and chemistry is HAWT! Since you are already reading Flynn's book Saturday morning, save this one for just before bed!

Robin Covington Free Agent is a great Quick Read about Jamie "DC" Washington that is trying to get a job offer from his home town of Washington DC after winning the cup and coming out. But he also has what he plans as a lost weekend with Etienne who works with the Rage, that D.C. Currently plays for. Robin Covington wrote a great story that you didn't want to put down. Avery Flynn's Blade was a great quick read about Flynn Kazakov the rages Stanley cup winning goalie and Gillie Pike a ex thief turned Jazz owner. This is second chance story can they forgive each other and also figure out who and why someone is behind trying to steal the cup and blame flynn. This is a great story again by Avery Flynn. Lena Hart's Courage. This was a great quick read that is all about love and can this coach get his wife give him a second chance to work on his marriage. Will he and his wife be able to work through the anger and hurt on both sides. This is a great story and you just have to root for both Mason and Jules.

Hot hockey players? Yes please! 18 hot hockey players - Oh hell yeah!! These are the stories of the players of the Cajun Rage as they each have their day with the cup! I've only had a chance to read a few of these stories so far but they have made the purchase price for this series well worth it and I expect the rest to be just as amazing. Each story I've read is a 5 star read! Put this one on the must read list. I highly recommend it. Deep Check by Kimberly Kincaid - After winning "The Cup" with the Rage, Finn Donnelly returns to Remington, NC to face the demons of his past. Surprisingly, clearing up the past helps him find the path for his future. In Skates Trouble by Kate Meader - With his day with The Cup Ford Callaghan returns to Chicago to share the win with his family. Never did he expect to meet the woman of his dreams. One little problem. She's the ex of the Rage's team owner. Career ending?? (Bonus: This is the beginning of a new series!!) Courage by Lena Hart - Mason Courage has just been named as the new head coach for the champion Cajun Rage hockey team. This should be a happy time but when his wife picks now to announce that she wants a divorce his whole world comes crashing down around him. Will he be able to save the most important thing in his life? Checking Yes by Misty Waters - On his day with the cup Cooper Banks just wants to show his Pops that he kept his promise to him. Hopefully though, returning to Dove Harbor, GA will not only let him do this but also repair his strained relationship with his brother as well as give him the second chance he desperately wants with the woman who owns his heart - Savannah Jane. Ransom by Nana Malone - Ransom Cox is excited to go home and give his mom the best birthday gift ever - a day with the cup! Proving that all her hard work and sacrifices have finally paid off. Seeing Lexa Carlisle, the woman of all his fantasies, again is the last thing he expected and the one thing that may blow his whole world apart.
  • Stanley Cup Hockey

Hockey is my sport. I came to it honestly as college social experiences revolved around the Division I hockey team – what else was there to do on a Friday night? At a small DI school you interacted frequently with the players. They were classmates and friends. Also as a DI hockey school it was a huge part of non-academic learning. I can still remember a class hockey game. The 5 hockey players used it for practice, the majority of the rest of us were just trying to keep our feet on skates. What I learned through those interactions was that these were the nicest guys you will ever meet: off the ice. They were respectful, honest, caring, and involved in their local community, not to mention most of them were pretty hot. In other words, the perfect romance hero. Thankfully, I’m not the only one that has noticed this and hockey romances are somewhat easier to find these days. My new favorite is the Hot on Ice anthology. This amazing collection of eighteen individual novels is authored by some of my favorites, including Kimberly Kincaid, Avery Flynn, Kate Meader, Angi Morgan, and others. To make it even more enticing, 20% of the proceeds benefit the Homes for Troops charity. The stories are all centered around the New Orleans Rage, the cup winning hockey team. Did I mention it is also $.99. If you are a fan of hockey romance this is a must read. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of these novels.
