Description

Hollywood hath no fury like a woman scorned. In this fun, flirty second-chance romance from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, an aspiring starlet reconnects with her first love.

“Sawyer Bennett never fails to deliver heroes I fall hard for and heroines I adore.”—Violet Duke

Eden Goodnight went to Los Angeles to make it big, not to be publicly humiliated by her cheating fiancé at a red-carpet premiere. But when Eden returns to her hometown to put the scandal behind her, she can barely find a sympathetic shoulder to cry on. Turns out the locals are worse than the paparazzi, and they all think she’s turned into a spoiled brat. But in a strange twist of fate, the one person who seems to understand what Eden’s going through is Cooper Mayfield . . . the boy she left behind.

Small-town charm is no match for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. At least that’s what Coop’s been telling himself all these years. As Eden’s old flame—and the landscaper for her family’s historic home—Coop feels some responsibility for getting her out of her funk. But as soon as he sees that million-dollar smile, he’s a goner. Soon they’re making out like teenagers again. But when a life-changing role falls into Eden’s lap, Coop just hopes she doesn’t give up on a love that’s meant to be.

  • Good second chance romance

Such a great second chance romance! When Hollywood star Eden Goodnight is jilted by her Hollywood fiance, she heads home where she runs into her ex-boyfriend Cooper Mayfield. They grew apart, but never really got over each other. Now, back in town together, the old feelings reunite. Can they keep their rebound status or will it be so much more this time around? I really liked the character in this book. My heart went out to Cooper and Eden as they tried to work their way back to each other. I could feel Eden's pain and frustration at what her life had become. I loved who Cooper became, but I have to say at the beginning, I was a little put off with him, but then again, he was always carrying a torch for Eden, he just didn't realize it. This was a good read and I'd love to see more in this small town!

Wow!! Second chance, fame, and lots of sex, Jilted by Sawyer Bennett just blew me away. I totally struggled with having to put down this book. While walking the red carpet at a Hollywood event beautiful Eden Goodnight discovers her fiancé cheated on her. Needing to get away, she her hometown but unknowingly, Cooper Mayfield, the boy she left behind, is living in her home. In this story we are exposed to the worse and best of small town living. Some things might never change in her small town, but Eden is at a loss to understand why the locals are so rude to her. Eden and Coop need to figure out how to share the home they both now own and how to move on from what they had to what they now want. Ms. Bennett did a nice job balancing the sexy with the feelings Eden and Coop were rediscovering. I totally enjoyed reading this wonderful book and highly recommend this book to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Eden Goodnught and Cooper Mayfield were high school sweethearts who continued their relationship as Freshmen in college. During their Freshman year, Eden is "discovered" and asked to model. Not having a family to help support her during college, she takes the job to help with finances. One job leads to another and Eden eventually had to decide whether to continue with college and Cooper or try modeling. Eden chooses modeling. Although Cooper and Eden try a long distance relationship, ultimately Cooper cuts Eden loose so she can pursue her dreams. Thus wrecking his.... Cooper, not being able to get over his one true love, becomes a player. He dates and has "fun" with women, but does NOT do commitment! He vows not to lose his heart again. Cooper graduated and moved back home to help his father with his landscaping business. Cooper also designs waterfalls and bigger landscaping projects in surrounding towns. Devasted by her cheating ex, Eden decides to run. She drives to the last place she was truly happy, the Goodnight House. Eden returns only to find out her high school crush co-owns her childhood home. Eden's grandma left half to Eden and half to Cooper when she passed away. Eden returned home for her grandma's funeral, but didn't stick around for the reading of the will as she and her grandmother were NOT close. Eden lost her parents as a young child and she was left with her uncaring grandma. It took 14yrs for Eden to return home. Now she's considered a stranger and she's not held in high regard due to a misunderstanding. Eden's devastated and hates that everyone is cruel to her. Eden returned in hopes of "finding" herself, figuring out her future, and finding peace. With Coop's help, the town begins to see Eden as the hometown girl she is--not the famous actress/model. I loved this novel!!! I thought it was sad how completely alone Eden was, even though she was engaged. I hate how she "settled" just so she wouldn't have to be alone. I loved the banter and childish behavior of both Eden and Cooper when fighting over the Master Bedroom. I loved how Coop was able to "see" the real Eden and get her to do non-glamorous things! I highly recommend this novel! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
  • Southern starlet seeks second chance

Disclaimer: ARC received in exchange for an honest review Jilted by Sawyer Bennett is the second installment in her Love Hurts series of thematically-linked standalones. It's a second chance romance between former country girl-turned-Hollywood starlet Eden and small-town landscaper Cooper. And though I'm a fan of both of these tropes, Jilted unfortunately doesn't seem to add anything new or fresh to either of them. Jilted's storyline is perfectly satisfactory, but not overwhelmingly memorable. After some amusing but petulant theatrics from both Eden and Coop about their surprising living situation, they conveniently resolve not all, but a significant amount of their emotional issues with each other then unsurprisingly enter into an agreed-upon purely sexual relationship. That the emotional component of their relationship is so quickly and casually dispatched of is disconcerting to me; romantically and intimately, Eden and Coop picked up right where they left off 14 years previously, despite major misunderstandings. The fact that, in the face of his anger, pain, and hurt, Coop thought so poorly of Eden so easily, despite a strong childhood friendship that evolved into a romantic, intimate relationship between first loves, is problematic. This is compounded by their diametrically opposed views of Eden's grandmother, Valeria. Eden obviously struggled with her grandmother following the death of her parents, which coincided with the onset of her relationship with Coop, which would mean he had a front row seat to the strain and tension that were a byproduct of that forced familial connection. So, it just seems odd that Coop later formed a bond with Valeria at all, let alone never in the course of their relationship discussed Eden or Valeria and Eden’s struggles, especially given Coop’s knowledge of Eden's issues with her grandmother. Honestly, it just seemed like conflict just for conflict's sake. And Bennett seemingly glosses over these issues, as they are easily “resolved” or forgotten entirely. So much so that the town's acceptance of Eden after its harsh dismissal of her is prompted by Coop getting cozy with her in the diner front of the town gossip. Granted, I don't want to see barriers erected for the sake of drama or to beleaguer an obvious reunion, but it just seemed that some of the necessary conversations needed to get readers onboard with a burgeoning relationship between Eden and Coop were missing. They never appeared to have met in the middle, and there was nothing in the story that indicated to me that they really saw the other's view on some major issues, things that could be considered major roadblocks to a successful, healthy relationship. Eden was absolutely a strong, vivid, vibrant character, which Bennett does so well with her female protagonists. But unlike many of Bennett's other small-town tales, the minor, supporting characters had the potential to be so much more than they were. Missy, Clay, Samuel -- their involvement was so minimal, but again, the treatment of them, much like the storyline, was slightly lacking. They all could have had a greater impact on the story than they did, and at the end of the book, I still felt like their stories were unfinished. After Sex in the Sticks, Bennett's first book in their series which sets the bar high, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Jilted. I don't want it to seem like I'm being harsh or that I didn't like the book; I did like the book, but it wasn't the standout from Bennett that I'm used to. While Jilted is a solid effort, it seemed to lack some of the authenticity that is Bennett's hallmark, and it ultimately left me frustrated and wanting… something… more… I'm not exactly sure. But for my money's worth, Jilted is good, but doesn't quite seem to live up to the hype of its predecessor.
  • Loved it!

I had so much fun reading this terrific second chance romance! Loved Cooper and Eden. They were high school sweethearts that had to make the tough decision to stay together despite trying to maintain a long-distance relationship or to let each other go. Through many heartbreaking conversations, they decided that the relationship needed to end. Eden had the opportunity to work as a model and Coop had no interest in leaving their hometown. He wanted to get his degree and work for his father’s landscaping business while he obtained his landscape design degree. He had plans to take over the family business. Even though it was mutual, there were still hard feelings. Eden rarely came back home. Her parents died in an accident when she was a young teen and her paternal grandmother was brought back home to raise Eden. This woman was a piece of work. She had no time for Eden and left her alone for holidays and wasn’t involved in her life. She was more interested in snagging another husband. There was no love lost between them. So, when she came home for her grandmother’s funeral, she didn’t stay. Her grandmother’s will was sent to her and Eden didn’t even read it She knew she was the sole heir to her parents family home. She was shocked to find out, the estate didn’t fully belong to her! Eden needed to get out of Hollywood! She had transitioned from modeling to become an acclaimed actress. On the red carpet for her fiancee's premiere of his movie, Eden is told by a paparazzi that her fiancee had cheated on her with his costar and he had photo evidence. Things got ugly. She decided she needed to return home to get her head together. What she didn’t expect was that Coop was living in the house and he actually owned half of the estate. Her grandmother had the nerve to leave half of it to Coop! She couldn’t believe it! Well folks, I have to tell you that it’s game on! Eden and Cooper go head to head. There is sexual tension, but there is a lot of hard feelings between both of them, so they argue and the banter and bickering is hilarious. I laughed so hard as they were throwing each other’s clothes out the master bedroom window! There are not only hard feelings between Cooper and Eden, but the townsfolk as a whole. They were not happy to see their prodigal daughter! They are downright dismissive and hostile. Eden is at a loss as to why they hate her. There is quite the story behind this one! Lots of small town gossip! I had such a great time watching things fall into place for Eden and Cooper. There are a lot of misunderstandings that need to be righted and controversy between Coop’s other woman, Cooper and Eden. There is no cheating, as Cooper broke it off with the other woman before he was with Eden. The chemistry between Coop and Eden is scorching! I don’t want to give anymore away. There is a lot that goes on and decisions need to be made and feelings need to be sorted! If you love a hot and steamy second chance romance that has some great laughs, give this book a chance!

  • 14 years later...finally together!

Eden Goodnight and Cooper Mayfield were high school and college sweethearts. In a strange turn of events, Eden is discovered one day by a big time modeling agency and her life takes a dramatic turn. Instead of graduating from college, marrying Coop and then having his babies, Eden's new life takes her away from her home town of Newberry, GA and into a life of glitz and glamour where modeling eventually turns into acting. Flash forward 14 years and Eden is walking the red carpet with her fiance, Brad, when a bomb is dropped...Brad is cheating on her with his leading lady. Feeling humiliated, Eden flees the scene and quickly decides to hide out in the only place no one would ever think to look...Newberry, GA...at her childhood home that she inherited from her Grandmother. Imagine Eden's surprise when she realizes that Coop lives in the house when her grandmother left him half the house too. From there the fun begins. The things these two did to each other in the beginning was hysterical....I just kept laughing out loud! After a while, Eden and Coop get back to being civil towards each other and that's when left over feelings start to emerge. The two of them come to an agreement while Eden is still in town and quickly they start to realize that those feelings from 14 years ago have not gone away. It was a fun and entertaining trip these two went on to get to their happy ending, but it sure was worth it. I really loved both of these characters. They were fun and real and their story was perfect!
  • Smexy but....

***3 ‘Heavy sigh’ Stars*** I suppose it has to happen every once in a blue moon, though I wish it didn’t, but Jilted just didn’t do it for me, and believe me when I say that it hurts me to admit. It’s still getting a 3 star rating from me because it still has the smexy you expect from a Sawyer Bennett romance and I really liked Eden, but I unfortunately didn’t love nor fully warm up to Coop. Yes, he could be all kinds of Southern charm, good ‘old boy smexy, not gonna take that away from him, but his actions towards the start of the book just rubbed me the wrong way. Now I know some will think it’s because of how he views women and relationships, but nope, I was okay with that and his manwhore-ish ways, it was how he treated Eden at their first run in when she returns to Newberry. I didn’t expect him to welcome her with open arms, it’s obvious from how he’s “lived” his life that he’s never gotten over her, but what he did just rubbed me the wrong way because he knew better. Instead of a man, I saw a child and that image stuck with me throughout the book. It pains me to be in the minority because I am a huge Sawyer Bennett fangirl, but it is what it is. This is still a fun, quick and smexy read and as I said, I really liked Eden so the read was worth it in the end. So I’m just going to stick this one on the “It’s not you, it’s me” & “this is an anomaly” shelf and move on. ~ Copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed ~

Sawyer Bennett brings us another fantastic story as Hollywood and small town America collide in this amazing second chance story. The characters are wonderful and the chemistry between Eden and Cooper is off the charts. Eden Goodnight, Hollywood's current favorite star, returns home after her private life implodes spectacularly right on the red carpet. She may not be happy about being back but she never expected the animosity the townspeople are throwing her way. The only person that seems to be cutting her any slack is her high school love Cooper Mayfield. If you enjoy your romance fun, heartfelt, and steamy this is perfect for you. I highly recommend it.
