Skylar Nixon is a twenty-seven year old failed actress with no Plan B. After a humiliating stint on a reality TV show crushes what’s left of her childhood dream, she finds herself back in her hometown with no money saved, no college degree, and no confidence she’s anything but a joke—a small town starlet who couldn’t hack it in the big city.

When she runs into former classmate Sebastian Pryce, she can’t believe the hot body and chiseled jaw belong to the shy, troubled loner she knew ten years before. He’s not exactly friendly at first, and she’s heard the rumors about his tragic past, but something in his sad eyes intrigues her. She only wants to get to know him better.

Until the night she wants more—and takes it. (Hard and deep. Twice.)

Are they just two lonely people seeking solace? Or can a disgraced beauty queen and flawed, frustrated man find some sort of happy ever after?

  • Love over Damage

Featuring two very damaged characters, this book shows the effort and joy of Love overcoming what living has wrought. I was deeply affected by the struggles in this story. And yet it was also light enough to soar in spots. I totally recommend it.

A Review of Some Sort of Happy (Skylar and Sebastian) by Melanie Harlow Skylar has made a mess of her life. She left her small home town for the bright lights of New York, just to find out that she wasn't really happy to be there. Then a stint on a reality show, where the producers have her acting the bad girl for ratings, destroys what is left of her reputation and sends her running back home to lick her wounds and decide what her next step is going to be. After the reality show airs, she loses the job she was excited about and runs into Sebastian a couple of times before she recognizes him. In high school, he was the shy, awkward loner who had some odd habits and was teased a lot. Now, he is gorgeous and ripped. As she tries to get to know him, him slowly opens up about his OCD and how he feels he doesn't deserve to be happy. "He’s the most complicated, frustrating, beautiful man I’ve ever met, and my body craves his with a hunger I’ve never known. My heart is his completely. Some people aren’t easy to love. But we fall for them anyway, don’t we?" Can she convince him that she is there to stay and that she won't leave him or will his inner demons destroy his first taste of true love? Having dealt with family members with mental illness, it was a great insight into what the mind can do to a person. He can't control what he thinks and how the voices in his head cause him to backslide into canceling his therapist appointments and lying to Skylar about what he is feeling and doing. I think Melanie did an awesome job in relating Sebastian's pain with his OCD. Well worth the price of the book! Looking forward to reading Natalie's story when it's ready. **Awesome purchase**
