Description

This enhanced edition includes the full original text—plus charming illustrations, animations and interactions that bring key moments in the story to life. You’ll also find annotations written by J.K. Rowling to give you interesting insights into the world of Harry Potter. Update to iOS 9 to get the full, enriched experience.

Harry Potter has never played a sport while flying on a broomstick. He's never worn a cloak of invisibility, befriended a giant, or helped hatch a dragon. All Harry knows is a miserable life with the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley. Harry's room is a tiny closet at the foot of the stairs, and he hasn't had a birthday party in eleven years.

But all that is about to change when a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to a wonderful place he never dreamed existed. There he finds not only friends, aerial sports, and magic around every corner, but a great destiny that's been waiting for him...if Harry can survive the encounter.

  • Many Accessibility Features and Much of the Extra Content Are Missing

I could not figure out how to turn on many of the accessibility features. I went to an iBooks workshop once that talked about all of the wonderful adjustments that people with certain visual perception difficulties can use to make the print easier for them to read. I was completely unable to locate these text/page adjustments. It should not be so difficult for people to adjust the text and background to their individual needs. Also: There is not enough additional material and JKR’s added writings to justify paying for this if you already own the books, in my opinion! I’d love a fully adjustable and interactive book, full of JKR’s background pieces, but this, sadly, is not it.

I have been a Harry Potter fan for about 2 years now. I started reading the series in 5th grade. It is amazing to read. My favorite character is Hermione. J.K. Rowlings is one of my favorite authors! If you are reading this you will be amazed how much detail and imagination this book has! -Harry Potter Fan

I grew up reading (and obsessed with) the Harry Potter books, but it had been a while since I last read them. While looking for an E-Book version to buy, I noticed that iBooks had the enhanced versions, so I bit the bullet and bought them. While I do agree with other reviewers that the enhancements are not mind blowing, they are certainly fun, and welcomed, additions to the book. As for the book itself, well, it's absolutely wonderful! Such a great, engrossing story. If you are rereading, or reading for your first time (lucky you!), you won't be disappointed!

Worth noting that the font cannot be changed because this ebook uses the original Harry Potter book font. It does let me change the background color (white, parchment, grey, black). My only complaint is that the italicized words (for emphasis) are in a different font (without serifs).
  • Not worth it.

It really wasn't worth it, there was limited excitement. And lacked the basics of being realistic. Definitely could have gone without it.
